Bloomberg has named Fisher Island as the wealthiest zip code in America, in a study released this week.
Fisher Island is an exclusive luxury island in Biscayne Bay by Miami Beach, Florida.

Miami’s Fisher Island took the richest spot again this year with $2.2 million in average annual income.
The 216-acre island attracts international buyers from over 45 countries, according to Heinrich von Hanau, a lead developer on Fisher Island’s final two luxury condo developments. Over 700 families live on the island and many use it as a second, third or fourth resort home.
No other zip code in America is even close.
Residents in Fisher Island’s 33109 zip code earned an average $2.21m in income in 2016, the most recent year Bloomberg studied (part-time residents are excluded). Residents of second place Atherton, California earned an average $1.28m.
To make the list, the zip code had to include at least 200 tax returns and 500 housing units. As of 2015, Fisher Island 218 households and a total population of 467, Census data showed.Fisher Island is an unincorporated area in Miami-Dade County, accessible only by ferry.
