Formula One plans to come to Downtown Miami.
May 3, 2018Formula One has announced plans to stage a street race in downtown Miami.
If commissioners approve, the first race would be held in October 2019, and be held annually for a decade. A vote on opening negotiations is scheduled for May 10, with a deal supposed to be reached by July 1 if approved.
Mayor Francis Suarez told The Independent that it would cost the city just $500k per year (other cities have paid up to $40 million in fees just to become a host). The other 99% of costs would be covered by private sources.
Dolphins owner Stephen Ross is helping to lead the plan.
Construction, including road resurfacing, would also be needed to accommodate the race.
