Lauderdale By The Sea News: STREETSCAPE PROJECT WILL START MAY 28TH

One of the themes contained in the Town’s Master Plan deals with the need to

revitalize the business district on Commercial Boulevard west of State Road A1A,

and to make a bold statement with an entryway sign that you’ve entered a unique

community. The West Commercial Boulevard Project addresses both those issues.

Construction will start on Tuesday, May 28, when workers will begin in the southwest

plaza, located on the south side of Commercial Boulevard near Benihana Restaurant.

Early in the week, crews will set up traffic control signs in the area. Construction will start

later in the week.

Plaza work on the south side of Commercial will run from May 28 to mid-August.

The project includes:

– Creating a wide promenade with expanded sidewalks in front of the shops on the north

and south sides of the road.

– Erecting a dynamic entryway feature motorists will see as they enter Town on

Commercial Boulevard. The sign features a coral reef, a sea turtle and other marine life.
