Tru by Hilton and Home2 Suites by Hilton hotel broke ground in Fort Lauderdale
June 7, 2018Driftwood Acquisitions & Development and Merrimac Ventures broke ground on a dual-branded Hilton Worldwide Holdings (NYSE: HLT) hotel in Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday.
The $50 million, 19-story hotel, at 315 N.W. First Ave., is expected to be completed in 2020.
The Tru by Hilton and Home2 Suites by Hilton hotel will feature 218 guest rooms and nearly 5,000 square feet of private event and conference space. It will be located about a mile away from the city’s new Brightline station and 5 miles from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
The mid-range Tru brand will have 112 rooms, while the extended-stay Home2 Suites will feature 106 rooms, including pet-friendly suites. Features include an outdoor bar, fitness center and 102 parking spaces.
Although housed in the same building, the two brands will be separated by an indoor passageway that connects at each distinct lobby, the companies said.
“The Tru and Home2 Suites brands perfectly complement each other, providing guests with a game-changing, contemporary, fresh experience in an affordable way,” said Isaac Lake, Hilton’s director of key partners.
The property will be managed by North Palm Beach-based Driftwood Hospitality Management. Merimac Ventures is the co-developer on the project.
“We are excited to partner with Driftwood on this exciting dual-branded hotel, which will further activate Flagler Village and contribute to the momentum and energy already happening in the area,” said Merrimac Ventures CEO Dev Motwani, whose family has been in the hotel business over 30 years.
